SRH vs MI Head to Head Match 55 IPL 2021 – Records and Stats

The 55th VIVO IPL 2021 will be the second last match of this IPL season played between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians. However, both teams are already out of the race to playoffs, so this will be just a slim chance for the five-time champions Mumbai Indians to make the most of this opportunity to make the playoffs spot.

However, it seems highly unlikely that the Mumbai Indians will be able to defend their title as to make it to the playoffs, they will have to bat first and beat SRH by 171 runs.

For most of the season in 2021, Mumbai Indians have been the opposite of their former self.

Owing to their sluggish play this year, Mumbai Indians have to play just for the sake of pride. They now share this in common with the Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals, who also said their goodbye in the last match with Kolkata Knight Riders.

The Mumbai Indians’ batting unit struggled through this season of IPL. While Rohit Sharma did not bring his best game forward, Quinton de Kock lost his place and momentum in 2021. Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, and Kieron Pollard could not recreate their magic and ended up winding soon this season.

Even the bowling front of MI was not very impressive as Trent Boult could not get many wickets which shifted pressure on Jasprit Bumrah, who shouldered the responsibility well, but one man can’t take the team to the win.

And, what seemed impossible a few weeks ago, perhaps sums up how far the Mumbai Indians have fallen this season if the other results did not go their way.

After the massive eight-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals, MI jumped to the fifth spot with 12 points from 13 games, with a net run rate of -0.048. At that moment, they did have something to look forward to, but Kolkata Knight Riders, with a superior net run rate of +0.294, are sitting on the fourth spot with as many points from 13 games as they registered another win against Rajasthan Royals on Thursday.

Coming to Sunrisers Hyderabad, who have already packed their bags and are on their way out of the playoffs, will look forward to ending their journey on a good note.

Although Jason Holder has been an all-rounder that the Sunrisers needed, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Siddharth Kaul managed to get their groove, their collective efforts were not enough to beat the big guns of the game in this season.
