T20 world cup 2021 Indiaa Squad

T20 World Cup India Squad – Can India Win World Cup with this Squad?

Team India was the first to win the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup inaugural edition of the tournament held on September 24, 2007, at the Wanderers in Johannesburg. They beat Pakistan by five runs to emerge victorious. The team is yet to win another ICC title, and they are currently looking to end the 8-year-long wait under Virat Kohli. Indian cricketers last won a championship in 2013, and the team is hungry for a win.

The team, as announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, would include the following: Virat Kohli (Capt), Rohit Sharma (vc), Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul, Varun Chakravarthy, Suryakumar Yadav, Ravichandran Ashwin, Rishabh Pant (wk), Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ishan Kishan (wk), Jasprit Bumrah, Rahul Chahar, Axar Patel, Hardik Pandya, Mohammed Shami. The 15-member squad had some inclusions and emissions, with Shikhar Dhawan and Yuzvendra Chahal not selected to play at the ICC tournament. The backup and stand-by players were named: Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, and Shreyas Iyer.

MS Dhoni offered to mentor the team for free during this tournament, an act that has been such an honor to the country.

Virat Kohli has confirmed that he will step down from the T20I captaincy chambers after the T20 World Cup as T20I captain. After Royal Challengers Bangalore was eliminated in the IPL layoffs, the captain stepped down and ceased being the captain. With no win at the IPL, Virat will take home the title this T20 season.

Let’s take a look at the players:

Virat Kohli

The man known as King Kohli is an award-winning and leading run-scorer in the t20I with the most 50 plus scores. In the T20 World Cup 2014, he scored 319 runs, with four fifties as the leading scorer. He was in good form in the IPL 2021 and under pressure to win an ICC Title. Known as the fastest player, he scored 10,000 runs in ODI terms of innings and took 54 less than previous records of 259 innings. The skipper has the 2nd most centuries in ODI and the 3rd most centuries in international cricket, both scenarios behind Tendulkar. In t20Is, the player has scored 3159 runs, an average of 52.65.

Rohit Sharma

The leadership of Rohit proves supreme and the most successful captain at the Indian Premier League tournament, where he has led the team to scoop three titles in six years of his captaincy, and he has 34 IPL fifties. Chances are he would be India’s next t20I captain. The opener is determined to influence the team’s score and help team India win an ICC title.

He has experience in the ICC T20 Cricket world cup, and in 2019, he hit a record-breaking tally of 5 hundred and has scored 2864 runs in 111 matches. His expertise and passion will come in handy during this tournament.

KL Rahul

He has made it to the list of the most highly rated opening batters in India’s next generation. A player who picks limited-overs for the team and has scored 626 runs in 13 IPL 2021.

Alongside Rohit, he will be part of the India opening team, and he is expected to play a more fluent role in the World Cup by the team. His scores are 1557 runs in 49 T20Is for India, including 2 hundred.

Ishan Kishan

The rising cricket star who scored more than 500 runs in the IPL 2020 for team Mumbai Indians was selected as the backup opener of team India in T20 World Cup 2021. The score helped the team win the IPL 2020 title. He has scored 241 runs in 10 matches and has played 3 T20Is, and scored 89 runs. He wasn’t present at the UAE leg of the IPL, but he is now back to form and is hitting back-to-back fifties doubles. One of his best cricket moments is when he scored 84 against SRH in the MIs final league game.

Suryakumar Yadav

He endured a challenging course in the IPL 2021 before coming back at the end of the season. He has played 4 T20Is, scored 139 runs with three fifties. The heavy scorer has evolved to be top of the India Team middle order.

Rishabh Pant

The young lad was able to take team Delhi Capitals into the IPL finals even though they did not win as he had desired. His performance and leadership have been impressive and seem to come in handy for team India. He has played 33 T20Is, where he hit 512 runs. The wicketkeeper-batsman has impressed Indian cricket fans as he won India in the Test series against Australia.

Hardik Pandya

Hardik is a fine finisher with a name in the Cricket world globally. Unfortunately, he is suffering from a back injury that has since affected his batting and bowling performance. The team worries if he will be able to score in the international cricket ongoing because he did not score in the IPL 2021 for team Mumbai Indians, but it still believes he will score single-handedly. The player has played 49 T20Is, scored 484 runs, and has picked up 42 wickets.

Ravindra Jadeja

Jadeja is a highly rated bowler who has been improving his skills and powerplay over the years. A Chennai Super Kings member proved to be the best finisher with the bat at the IPL 2021. He came through for the team to collect a winning title. His batting energy and exceptional fielding skills will flow into the ICC T20 to impact team India’s performance.

Ravichandran Ashwin

He returns to the limited-overs set up for the first time since 2017; therefore, being part of the India squad was quite a surprise to many. He has played 46 T20Is and has picked 52 wickets.

The off-spinner has experience in IPL and ICC world cup tournaments, which will come in handy to boost team India on UAE pitch grounds.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar

A consistent player in limited-overs for team India. Even with recurring injuries, the player managed to handle the ball perfectly against England. He is crucial for the team and has played 51 T20Is and picked up 50 wickets for India. Despite his wavering performance in the IPL season for team Sunrisers Hyderabad, he still has a knack for handling the ball.

Mohammed Shami

The cricketer has been absent from most India T20Is. His area is the bowling department, and he may be expected to share the lead role with Jaspprit Bumrah in the pace unit. With a recommendable performance in the IPL season, he will be of value to the squad for the experience.

Jasprit Bumrah

He is India’s most essential and the finest bowler across all formats with the ability to bowl perfectly. The selected players have won the Mumbai Indians IPL matches over the years. He understands the assignment and knows how and when to deliver in all leagues, even the T20Is. The cricketer is an asset for the T20 World Cup India squad 2021 and has been improving his skills in the 50 T20Is and the 59 wickets he has picked.

Varun Chakravarthy

The mystery spinner of Kolkata Knight Riders made his debut in July 2021 and was among the most formidable bowlers to get away in the IPL seasons. He has since proved his skills to bowl for KKR and has an economy rate of 6.40. The opposition will have a difficult time dealing with him.

Rahul Chahar

The player opted over Yuzvendra Chahal for the T20 World Cup and was a great leg spinner who made a good performance against England earlier this year. That was the day he marked his return to national cricket. During the IPL 2021, his performance was sluggish. And he has a point to prove after getting an opportunity to play at the ICC T20 World Cup.

Shardul Thakur

The fast bowling all-rounder played for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2021. He has been in the T20 for quite a while, and his IPL performance was impressive. He bowls seamlessly with the new ball and picks up wickets on his steady way to win. The position has a more stunning sinner, but his performance is hard to brush off. He is someone who can bat at lower order and can change the game as well.
