Editorial policy
How we keep our casino coverage independent, sourced and correct, including who writes and checks our reviews and how we use AI tools.
On this page
This policy sets out the standards behind everything published on MyCasinoGuru. It sits alongside our review methodology, which covers how casinos are verified and scored.
Independence
MyCasinoGuru earns money through affiliate commissions in markets where that is legal. We keep that separate from editorial decisions in a simple way: a commercial relationship can decide whether a link exists, not what we write. Commissions never change a score, a ranking position or the wording of a review. Operators cannot pay to be reviewed, to be ranked or to have content changed or removed.
If an operator disagrees with something we have written, we look at the evidence they provide. If they show us a factual error, we fix it. If they simply dislike a fair assessment, the assessment stays.
Sourcing standards
Casino information must be factual and backed by a source we can point to. In order of preference, we rely on:
- The regulator’s own public register and official publications.
- The casino’s published terms and conditions, and the information on its own site.
- Laws, regulations and official guidance in each market.
- Our own first-hand use of a real-money account, where a review says so.
A casino only appears in a ranking after its licence has been matched on the regulator’s public register. We record the licence holder, the licence number and the date of the check, link to the register, and repeat the check at least every 30 days.
We do not publish player reviews we cannot verify, testimonials, invented statistics or claims about first-hand testing that did not happen. Reviews based on desk research are labelled as desk research.
Who writes and who checks
Every review names its author and the editor who checked it. The author researches the casino, scores it against our eight criteria and records the evidence. The editor checks the facts and the scores against that evidence before publication. Each review shows the date it was last reviewed.
Our writers and editors have professional experience in the online gambling and affiliate industry. That experience is useful, but it does not replace sources: every factual claim still has to be checkable.
Updates and corrections
Casino terms, payment options and licences change. We keep reviews current in three ways:
- Licence checks are repeated at least every 30 days. If a check goes out of date, the casino drops out of the ranking automatically.
- Reviews are revisited and the last reviewed date is updated when they are.
- Reports from readers and operators are investigated.
When we find an error, we correct it and note the change on the page. We do not quietly rewrite mistakes. To report one, use our contact page and tell us which page, what is wrong and, if you can, a source that shows the correct information.
Use of AI tools
We may use AI tools to help with research, for example to summarise long terms and conditions or to flag changes on a page. They are a research aid only.
- Every fact is checked by a person against the original source before it is published.
- AI tools do not decide scores or rankings.
- We do not publish automatically generated reviews or content that has not been reviewed by a person.
- Any change to material commercial information, such as a licence status or an offer, is reviewed by a person before it goes live.
Conflicts of interest
People who write or edit a review should not have a personal financial interest in the casino being reviewed beyond the site’s own affiliate relationships, which are disclosed. If someone has a conflict, they do not work on that review.
Our commercial relationships are explained in full in our affiliate disclosure. Affiliate links are marked as sponsored in the page code and only appear in markets where they are legal and approved.
Responsible coverage
We write for adults in regulated markets. We do not present gambling as a way to make money, we do not target content at anyone under the legal age, and every market we cover links to local help on our responsible gambling page.
